Earlier this month I was browsing the MLB.com shop to see what mini ballplayer Mik might choose when we went to the Wrigley Field 100th Anniversary game and found that they actually had a special 100 Year figure. We decided to just order it online and not have to worry about finding it at the ballpark since we barely found Screech at the Nats Opening Day due to the crowded Team Store. Mik and Dad didn't have to deal with a crowded store since we were so early to the game, but they did find out that they were out of stock of the 100 Year figures and they currently are only available online anyways.
The 100 Year Anniversary Figure not only has the logo on the jersey and hat, but it also has it on the home plate base.
This blog began as a log of our summer 2009 road trip to all the Major League Baseball ballparks and a few other baseball themed stops. I will continue to update it with posts about ballparks and other baseball related things we experience.

Mik's Mini Ballplayer Collection: Screech
Since it was Opening Day the team shop was very crowded and I did not have a chance to really look around for the mini figs, so I do not know if they had any specific player ones available or not. What I did easily spot was the generic Washington Nationals one and Screech. The generic one is rather boring just representing the team in general with the uniform and the number 00 on it. The Screech one is actually kind of cool, though, as it is at least the team mascot.

Mik's Mini Ballplayer Collection: Louisville Slugger
Dad and I had a hard time choosing just one mini figure for Mik's collection when we were at the Louisville Slugger Museum to see the Big Leagues, Little Bricks Exhibit. They had several that were from the National Baseball Hall of Fame series and it was tempting to get those, but in the end we decided not to since we were not at the Hall of Fame and none of them were among the players Mik particularly favored. The figure with a Louisville Slugger uniform made sense, though.

Mik's Mini Ballplayer Collection: Chipper Jones
The Chipper Jones mini figure was the obvious choice for Mik to get for his mini ballplayer collection when we went to the Chipper Jones Number Retirement game. It was from the generation one series that was released last year rather than this year's series and was overpriced at $20 vs. the normal $12.99, but it makes sense for his collection and there likely will not be another one featuring him and the other players/generation two figures may be around on another visit.

Mik's Mini Ballplayer Collection: Stephen Strasburg 2012 All Star Edition
When I was shopping online for Nats 2012 NL East Division Champs gear with my birthday money, I could not resist also getting Mik a Nationals figure for his mini ballplayer collection. I gave him the options and he decided on the 2012 All Star Edition Stephen Strasburg one. Mik still likes to trash talk my Nats despite them having an awesome season this year, but all along he has been a Strasburg fan and actually he has a general tendency to like certain pitchers from non-Dbacks teams.
Mik's Mini Ballplayer Collection: Ian Kennedy
The Ian Kennedy figure was the first one Mik got for his collection, although he did not decide to really start a collection until he got the Jose Reyes one.

Mik's Mini Ballplayer Collection: Jose Reyes
Last week at the Dbacks game I got Mik a LEGO style mini figurine of Ian Kennedy because I thought it would be fun for his miniature collection. Well, apparently this is a new thing for more than just the Dbacks, as at the Marlins game I spotted some Marlins ones and he ended up getting a Jose Reyes one. They sure are expensive at $14.99 a piece, but since we are not actually going to any more ballparks this year I let him start a Mini Ballplayer Collection that he can slowly build over the years if they keep making more series of them or he can just end up with the two being cool additions to his overall miniature collection (mainly mini bats and miniature landmarks of the world).
